What is render? Clean lines, smooth walls, or a rugged coat of character unique to you.
It is the process of coating and sealing a surface in order to improve its appearance, make it water-resistant, and provide protection against weathering.
Rendering will achieve a great textured finish over brickwork, AAC panels, or any other cladding, as well as protection from potential damage, have it last longer, and increase the value of your build.
There are different types of render systems that can be used, two common ones being:
* Acrylic based – A type of water-based plaster, made from acrylic tones and resin, making it flexible and durable, with a smooth and easy application.
* Cement based – A lightweight mix of cement, sand, and sometimes lime, that is quick to apply, with no shrinkage, and a long lifespan.
The two main render finishes are:
* Coloured render – Merges well with natural materials such as brick and stone to give a well-blended asethetic. It is highly durable, resistant to water, mould, and sunlight.
* Painted render – Using paint on top of your render gives you the option of a wider range of colours and finishes. Gives you freedom to alter hues and textures any time.
